2009 Save the Date

As more people and organizations focus on eco-friendly projects, the City of Omaha invites you to learn the latest techniques and components for building bioretention gardens at a workshop on November 12, 2009.

This stormwater workshop is your opportunity to be among the first to receive a copy of our new design and installation manual for bioretention gardens.  Bioretention gardens (often referred to as rain gardens) are a natural stormwater best management practice that can be effective in removing pollutants, conserving water, and creating attractive garden amenities for development projects.

The design and installation of successful bioretention gardens requires an interdisciplinary effort, integrating the skills and knowledge of engineers, landscape architects, earth scientists, and landscape plant and maintenance experts.

Designed to bring together the professions involved in designing and installing natural systems, this workshop continues to promote sensible stormwater management in the Omaha region.  The workshop content will include site assessment, garden design, drainage and soils management, effective selection and use of plants, and the relative costs associated with bioretention implementation.

We look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
